RUSSIAN PHILOLOGY – FIRST-CYCLE STUDIES (BACHELOR'S)

Studying Russian philology online is not a novelty in our country. We have introduced the possibility of remote teaching in response to the needs of our students. Online Russian studies are an attractive alternative for people living far away from academic centres and people with disabilities.

SPECIALIZATIONS IN RUSSIAN PHILOLOGY

As part of the Russian Philology specialization, you can decide for yourself what scope of knowledge you particularly want to explore. A student may choose one of the following specializations:

Russian Philology for Teachers

If you feel that you would like to share your knowledge with others and teach a foreign language – choose a teaching specialisation. Such studies will allow you to gain the qualifications needed to work as a Russian language teacher in educational institutions and to conduct language courses (also abroad). Your rights will be respected in all countries of the European Union, thanks to which you will be able to take up legal work also outside Polish. Graduates of our university gain not only substantive knowledge in the field of teaching a foreign language, but also key competences in the field of psychology and didactics. Bachelor’s studies in the field of Russian Philology with a teaching specialization will give you both linguistic knowledge and solid psychological and pedagogical preparation to conduct classes with students.

Russian Translation Philology

Worldwide, Russian is spoken by more than 160 million people. If your dream is to work in an international company or you want to work as a translator – choose a translation profile. By studying Russian Studies with a specialization in translation, you will perfectly master the written language, descriptive and practical grammar, comprehension of Russian-language texts, and conversation. A characteristic feature of education in this field is the combination of thorough theoretical knowledge with practical applications.

During your studies, you will gain skills that will allow you to translate various types of texts (literary texts, press and online publications, and many others). During the course, you will learn how to use a computer and the Internet while translating. We will also prepare you for specialist translations. During the classes, you will face texts related to medicine, law, media, economics, art, technology, and many more. After specialization in translation, you will gain the competences necessary to perform written translations, thanks to which you will be able to cooperate with translation agencies, publishing houses, etc. During your studies, you will also gain the ability to speak Russian fluently and communicatively, which will allow you to establish cooperation with entities that have constant telephone contact with foreign partners.

CAREER PROSPECTS – RUSSIAN PHILOLOGY

Studying Russian studies gives you great opportunities. After graduating, you will gain a professional qualification within your chosen profession. The chances of finding your dream job after Russian philology will be even higher if you decide to continue your education at second-cycle or postgraduate studies.

Graduates of the Bachelor’s degree programme in Russian Philology acquire basic knowledge and skills in linguistics (with an emphasis on applied linguistics) and in literary and cultural studies. With a bachelor’s degree, you can apply for employment in public or private schools, local government institutions, international corporations and Polish companies operating in the logistics industry, or in translation agencies and publishing houses. You can also start your own business.

By studying Russian philology at our university, you will gain knowledge of the language of the specialty at the C1 level and you will learn how to use your knowledge and skills in practical situations. A bachelor’s degree will give you fluency in the Russian language both written and spoken. You will learn to use colloquial and specialist language fluently.

OVERVIEW

Graduates of first-cycle studies receive a bachelor’s degree confirmed by a diploma of higher vocational studies in the field of Russian philology. The basis of teaching in the field of Russian Studies is the practical education of a foreign language, oriented towards its fluency and the richness of colloquial and specialist vocabulary.

The curriculum focused on learning Russian is complemented by subjects from an extensive block of courses in the field of major and general education, which are to equip ULT graduates with the knowledge and skills required by the modern labor market.

GRADUATE PROFILE

Thanks to studying at our university, graduates will gain:

4. General knowledge of Russian literature and culture and the ability to use it in professional work.

After completing the Bachelor’s degree in Russian Philology at ULT, graduates can take up employment or continue their education at second-cycle studies in the same or another field of study or at selected postgraduate studies.
