The international student cultural festival „The World of Abay” was held in ЕKU

On April 22, S. Amanzholov ЕKU, together with the cultural and educational center „Abay”, opened on the basis of the Linguistic and Technical University in Swiecie (Poland), held an international student cultural online festival „The World of Abay”.

The festival was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland to Kazakhstan Selim Khazbievich and Chairman of the Union of Poles of Kazakhstan Ekaterina Ostrovskaya, Rector of the Linguistic and Technical University of Swiecie, Professor Elzbieta Sternal, Professor of the Department of Altaic Studies at the University of Szeged in Hungary Raushangul Zakanovna Mukusheva.

– Opened on February 7, 2019, thanks to the rector of the University, Professor Elzbieta Sternal, with the support of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Poland, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Akimat of the East Kazakhstan region, the Abay Center at the Linguistic and Technical University of Swiecie is today an intellectual platform for talented youth, the purpose of which is to popularize and expand the knowledge of Polish students about the traditions and customs of the Kazakh people, the work of the great poet-educator Abay, a native of East Kazakhstan. Today, our students study at the Swiecie Linguistic and Technical University as part of the academic mobility program, and joint events are held.

Dear Mrs. Rector, thank you for the opportunity to provide Polish youth with an opportunity to get acquainted with the works and philosophical heritage of Abai on the basis of your university.

On behalf of the staff of the S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, let me express to you, Mrs. Rector, the words of deep and sincere gratitude for your warm hospitality and friendly reception that you have organized for us. We were particularly pleased to see the openness and willingness to cooperate demonstrated by the staff of your university. We firmly intend to implement the previously reached agreements on continuing cooperation in many areas of educational and scientific activities, as well as the development of the Abai Center.

I wish the young participants success, new discoveries in the work and philosophy of Abai Kunanbayev, – said the rector of S. Amanzholov, Professor M. A. Tolegen.

During the festival, students of two universities from Poland and Kazakhstan performed Abai’s works in several languages of the world.

So, the student Magdalena Otulak studied in the Russian language Abay’s spontaneity „until you know”, „a quiet night at the moon” in the English language – Joanna Dąbrowska – Zarembska, „not without heart, chereschur” in the German language – Karolina Fenske-Polito, „Osen” in the Polish language language – Róża Kerner, „Leto” in the Italian language – Dorota Wojciechowska, „to the day of you” in the Russian language – Grażyna zięba, „I am disappointed from friend and enemy” in the Kazakh language – Yana mumleva, „I am disappointed from friend and enemy” in the Korean language – Elizabeth teterina, „quiet night at Moon” in Chinese language – Dina Yersin,” words of nazidania „in the Turkish language – Madina Talgatova,” words of nazidania ” in the English language – Yerkebulan Bekmuratovich and others.

Abay’s song „Silent Night under the Moon” was performed by Serik Aisulu, a 1st-year student of the EP „Music”.

The festival is over. But the world of Abay is an eternal theme. Today’s international festival is planned to be held in the future as a traditional annual event. And the electronic version of the translations of Abai’s works will be sent to the Abai Center, located on the basis of the Linguistic and Technical University of Swiecie in Poland.
